Today we'll be looking out for the mammals, birds, reptiles, insects and plants to be found locally; you should see signs of wild boar as well as the more common species of birds and reptiles.

We'll also look at why the Mediterranean has such high bio-diversity and why this part of the Costa Blanca has so many endemic plant species.
Wild apple

Finally we will show you some of the wild plants that were traditionally used for food, medicine, tools, fuel and fabrics and those which should be treated with respect.
Blue Rock Thrush, usually to be found on clifftops!

What you will discover applies to almost anywhere in the Mediterranean and is knowledge you can take with you on future walking adventures in the region.
