Your guide, Erik Brockdorff, speaks fluent Spanish and Valenciano and has travelled widely throughout Europe and the Americas. He studied Environmental Sciences at the University of East Anglia (BSc) and Resource Management at Edinburgh University (MSc) before running a forestry contracting and management company in Norfolk. He became an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Foresters and an inspector for the Forest Stewardship Council before moving to Spain in 1996 where he now divides his time between walking and farming.

The other half of the team is Esperanza Molines-Ripoll, a native of Tàrbena and current president of the village cultural group Capcingle. Apart from her great sense of humour she is the principal source of information about local culture and customs and is in charge of  cooking up Valencian specialities, like paella, on picnic days.

The youngest member is Carla who keeps them on their toes as she finds more fossils than anybody else. As a family they enjoy spending time walking, exploring, fossil hunting, plant spotting and cooking up paellas, so it was a small step to combine resources, experience and love for the countryside to produce Insightwalks.

The idea behind the venture is to take visitors beyond the scenery and give them a real insight into the Spanish countryside and way of life
